Nordhorn Classic Open 2024 at 01./02.06.2024

Tournament Information

Name of Tournament: Nordhorn Classic Open 2024

Because the tournament includes not only hardbat classes but also now four sandpaper classes, we have changed the well-known tournament name "Nordhorn Brettchen Open" in the English version to "Nordhorn Classic Open".
Organizer: SV Vorwδrts Nordhorn

The tournament, being started 2001 by SV Eintracht Nordhorn and organized by TTC Eintracht Nordhorn after the fusion with TTC Nordhorn from 2008 until 2012, is organized since 2013 by SV Vorwδrts Nordhorn. The Nordhorn table tennis players have moved completely to this club in summer of 2012. Organization is the same as before, just the club's name has changed.

Venue: Gymnasium of Anne-Frank-School; von-Behring-Straίe 5;
48529 Nordhorn; Tournament telephone 0049/151/27592481

The gymnasium of Anne-Frank-School is meanwhile available for our table tennis club for all competitions. This venue is almost identical to the long-standing tournament venue, the gymnasium of the Frensdorf school (but without disturbing incidence of sunlight), so that we can now offer 12 tables again. This hall is also much more centrally located in Nordhorn than the Vorwδrts-hall and ultimately only 1.2 km from the hall of the Frensdorf school. With four separate changing rooms, each with a shower, the sanitary facilities are significantly better than those in the previous tournament venues.
Format: Singles: Preliminary round in groups of four up to six players each, who play Round Robin, and final round with first and second of each group in knock-out system. If feasible, consolation round for third and following of each group on a voluntary basis in knock-out system.

All players must use the uniform hardbat rackets being provided at the table. That will be the TSP Picco woods (with straight, anatomical or concave grip) with Friendship 729 Dr. Evil rubbers (short pimples out without sponge) on both sides. Private rackets are not allowed.

Before each change of ends every player puts the racket used previously to his half of the table. After the change, he uses the bat with which his opponent has played before.
Sandpaper laws: The laws of the World Championship of Ping Pong will be applied:

All players must use the official WCPP bats (wood: Carlton/sandpaper: 3M) being provided at the table. In these the wood is coated on both sides with a thin layer of fine gray sandpaper with the same color. Private rackets are not allowed.

Before each change of ends every player puts the racket used previously to his half of the table. After the change, he uses the bat with which his opponent has played before.

It is played with best of three games to 15 points. Each game is finished when the first player has scored 15 points. In the final game ends change when the first player has scored seven points.

Each player once per match has the option to take a double-point ball. This must be at his own serve and before he has reached 13 points in this game. The directly following rally is played with a white ball. If this rally is won by the server he gets two points. Otherwise, the opponent gets one point. Counting and change of service will remain unaffected. The server always has two services one by one.
